One of the most charming and popular birds is the Senegal Parrot. They are easily trainable and make a fascinating bird for new and experienced bird keepers. They quickly bond with their owners making them one of the most popular species of small pet birds. These hearty and healthy little parrots live in captivity for about 50 yrs. Besides their beautiful coloring they learn to talk and mimic sounds. If you are looking for an easy to care for pet, the Senegal should be at the top of your list. Sloth Born in Dunedin

A baby two-toed sloth born at a Dunedin pet store doesn't have a name yet, but it's a star. The 7-month-old sloth from Pet Safari was featured on CNN, anchor Anderson Cooper's new daytime talk show on Friday. Cooper apparently loves sloths, so his show's producers surprised him by flying the sloth and its owner, Larry Lipke, to New York to appear on the episode titled "Pet Extravaganza."

Not so fast Mr. Sloth—The sloth is the world's slowest mammal, so sedentary that algae grows on its furry coat. Plants in their environment give them a greenish tint that is useful camouflage in the trees of its Central and South American rain forest home.

Chinchilla Baby

Pictured is a beige colored Male chinchilla approximately 4 months old. He likes toys, especially wooden ones, and will run on a wheel for exercise.

  • Quick Tips and General Information

Avoid mesh in Chinchilla cages because their nails could get stuck. Also, never put any plastic in their cage. They like to chew and the plastic could lodge in their intestines. They are excellent jumpers and can jump up to 6 ft high. Chinchillas do best in larger habitats and if possible make sure there are shelves in their cage since they like to climb. A wire cage that has good circulation is the best since chinchillas do not sweat and their body temperature needs to stay under 75 degrees or they can overheat. Chinchilla ledges are an excellent choice for keeping your pet cool. Never give your chinchilla a water bath, always use a dust bath.

Baby Chinchilla

They live about 15 yrs, but some have lived more than 20 years.

Newsflash

The week we got our puppy, I caught a stomach bug and stayed home from work one day. That afternoon, my wife called to check up on me.

"I'm okay," I said. "But guess who pooped in the dining room."

My wife's response: "Who?"
